Sock Monkey with Felt Eyes

A dear friend of mine recently had her first baby.
She loves sock monkeys; as she should; as should everyone.

I've made my fair share of sock monkeys, but I've never made one for a
newborn before.
I like making my monkeys with button eyes, but because I wanted the baby's monkey to be soft and cuddly and safe, I opted for felt eyes instead.

I simply cut out some felt circles and stitched them to the monkey.
I also added eyelashes, because I'm fancy like that.

Even without the button eyes I think this monkey (who I lovingly referred to as Lavern while she was being made) has plenty of character.

I hope my friend's sweet baby is loving her sweet sock monkey!

*To keep baby safe, never place stuffed animals or pillows in her crib!*

Happy crafting!

  1. Adorable. My daughter is still just as in love with Rosie, the sock monkey you gave us. You are a sock monkey artist. I am sure this monkey will be equally as loved.
